CANCERMOTISYS
Systems Biology of Response Prediction in Gastric Cancer
Coordinator: Dr. Julian Mattes
The collaborative research alliance CANCERMOTISYS („Systems biology of drug effects on motility of gastric cancer cell lines“) was supported by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) and the Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research (BMWF) in 2009-2012 within the program Medical Systems Biology – MedSYS. The systems medicine project SYS-Stomach builds on the CANCERMOTISYS project.
The aim of the project was to investigate the efficacy of the therapeutic EGFR antibody cetuximab in gastric cancer cell lines in order to identify molecular biomarkers for response prediction. These biomarkers will be considered in the context of personalised medicine. CANCERMOTISYS addressed questions of systems biology with high medical relevance through an interdisciplinary approach that combined mathematical concepts, computer aided operations and biological experiments.
