The Institute of Pathology at the Technische Universität München

The Institute for Pathology at the Technical University of Munich covers the entire diagnostic spectrum of histopathology, cytopathology, molecular pathology and autopsy pathology.

In addition, the institute is responsible for broad training, further education and advanced training in the field of pathology.

Furthermore, as a tertiary academic center, we are very active in research. Research-relevant entity focuses currently exist in gastrointestinal and hepatopancreatic pathology, sarcoma pathology, head and neck pathology and neuropathology. A central cross-entity content focus is defined by the development and application of molecular methods and new technologies for biomarker analysis that can be used on paraffin tissue (at DNA, RNA and protein level). In this context, particular attention is paid to the molecular response prediction in the context of tumor therapies in order to develop more individualized treatment options in the future.
