HDR-med
Funded by AiF Projekt GmbH
The aim of this project is to improve the visualization in minimally invasive surgery through the use of high-dynamic-range cameras. Through intelligent mathematical algorithms in the live video image all disturbances, e.g. smoke or mist will be automatically eliminated.
High-Dynamic-Range (HDR) sensors for cameras offer a much better range of illumination. Thus, exposure series can be taken within a very short time. HDR technique offers the possibility of poorly-lit areas to be visualized with brighter display, in parallel, backlighted surfaces can be represented less intense.
Currently, the HDR technology in the medical field is absolutely new. Technically, however, the HDR sensor could be implemented in the visualization chain. However, since the requirements in comparison to the cinema technique significantly differ, several changes are necessary. Therefore MITI will develop a test bed for the evaluation of HDR sensors in the medical environment and assist the partner companies during the modifications of the sensor and system integration.
The project is carried out in cooperation with C.R.S. iiMotion GmbH and viimagic GmbH.
