Zebrafish: Model Organisms to Study Neurobiology and Disease

This one-week course is designed to introduce students to zebrafish as model organisms and how they are being used to address questions in the context of neurobiology and to study diseases afflicting the nervous system. Using a combination of seminars (including invited experts in the field) and hands-on practical work, students are exposed to cutting-edge technologies utilized by zebrafish researchers, including transgenesis, genome editing technologies, high throughput screens, behavioral assays and imaging. This course, coordinated together with Dr. Tim Czopka (Institute of Neuronal Cell Biology), is offered within the context of the TUM PhD program ‘Medical Life Sciences and Technology’.
