Prof. Vasilis Ntziachristos receives the 2015 Gold Medal Award of the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS)

Prof. Vasilis Ntziachristos has been selected to receive the 2015 Gold Medal Award of the World Molecular Imaging Society (WMIS). The WMIS Awards Committee unanimously voted to recognize Prof. Ntziachristos’ outstanding contributions to optical and molecular imaging by awarding its highest honor:
“For pioneering work in the field of optical molecular imaging, providing solutions for deep tissue imaging, advancing quantitative and biologically specific interrogation of living systems, and for advancing the applications of these agents to in vivo diagnosis in humans.”
Prof. Ntziachristos will accept the price during a special plenary session at the World Molecular Imaging Congress 2015 that will be held in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA from Sept. 2-5, 2015.

Optical imaging brings exquisite sensitivity and specificity to molecular imaging, and provides new insights into biology and disease at the cellular and tissue level, with immediate relevance to clinical applications. In recognition of his pioneering work in optical molecular imaging, advancing quantitative and biologically specific interrogation of living systems, we are delighted to be able to honor Dr. Ntziachristos with the WMIS Gold Medal award.
